The Buffalo Marathon will take place Sunday on many of the city's major streets and at its two major parks.
Here are things anyone who will be in the city during that period will need to know:
When: The Buffalo Marathon, half-marathon and marathon relay will start at 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
Where: It will include more than 50 streets and avenues that run from the city waterfront to Hertel Avenue, with an after-party at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. Portions of those thoroughfares will be closed from early morning until as late at 2 p.m.
General route: It will start north of Niagara Square and finish outside the convention center, 153 Franklin St. The first half of the 26.2-mile course will include Canalside, LaSalle Park and Delaware and Linwood avenues. The last half will stretch up Franklin Street and Linwood Avenue, past Forest Lawn, through and past Delaware Park, then back down Elmwood Avenue, Bidwell Parkway and Richmond Avenue.
