Patriots tight end and Amherst native Rob Gronkowski is the star of a new music video released Wednesday by electronic dance music producer and DJ 3LAU that is par for the Gronkowski course.
The good news first: All proceeds from streams and sales of the song, "On My Mind" featuring Yeah Boy, will be donated to the American Civil Liberties Union, 3LAU wrote in the YouTube description of the video. So it was nice of Gronk to lend it his star power.
As for the video itself, it's Gronk at his Gronkiest. He joins an attractive woman at the bar, but ends up getting a drink thrown in his face because he ignores her while fantasizing about her and her bikini-clad friends washing his car. (The struggle.)
Later, Gronk daydreams about the women eating sushi off of his body, but gets freaked out when wrestler friend Mojo Rawley joins the soirée. After his date leaves him, Gronkowski – dressed in a stripey shirt that belongs on the set of "Blue's Clues" – passes out on the bar floor, but imagines he and his friends are having a trampoline party.
The song itself has a decent club beat but gets repetitive (awesome piece on lyric compression and repetitiveness here, by the way). Gronkowksi agreed to a restructured contract this week that could make him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL if he stays healthy, and he appeared unscathed by the sushi and suds, so looks like everything checks out here.
