Casey Middle School in the Williamsville Central School District has a new principal.
Peter Dobmeier, assistant principal at Casey for the last 6½ years, takes over in July from Francis McGreevy, who is retiring after 18 years in the the district.
The School Board unanimously approved the appointment of Dobmeier to the $112,000-a-year post overseeing one of the district's four middle schools. He holds a bachelor's degree from SUNY Geneseo and a master's degree from Canisius College and previously taught English in the Sweet Home School District.
"Six and a half years ago, I felt like I won the lottery when I walked into Casey," Dobmeier told the audience in the district's boardroom. "And that feeling comes back to me tonight as I'm offered the opportunity to become the principal of Casey Middle School."
McGreevy leaves on a high note. He was recognized with a standing ovation Tuesday for winning the School Administrators Association of New York State's Region 12 Administrator of the Year award.
