LEG UP – “Arthritis and Degenerative Disorders of the Knee and Hip” is the topic as the Town Hamburg Senior Services holds the final session in its series for adult learners 55 and older at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Hamburg Senior Community Center, 4540 Southwestern Blvd.
The series has been held in conjunction with University Express, a partnership of the Erie County Department of Senior Services and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Classes are free, but registration is required. Call 646-0665.

LIFE SAVERS – The Erie County Department of Health will sponsor free rabies clinics for dogs, cats and ferrets from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Town of Tonawanda Highway Garage, 450 Woodward Ave. off Military Road, and from 4 to 7 p.m. May 31 in the parking ramp at the Broadway Market, 999 Broadway. Rush the Growler

WAR STORIES – Scott Frank and the Rush the Growler folk band will perform at the next meeting of the West Seneca Historical Society and Museum at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the West Seneca Senior Center, 4620 Seneca St. Frank’s great-great-grandfather served in the Civil War in the 154th New York Volunteer Infantry, whose story is told in a CD the band has recorded. Songs from the CD will be featured. All are welcome. Donation is $5.

BON APPETIT – Cooks for Books, the premier fundraising event for Brighton Place Library in the Town of Tonawanda, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in Banchetti by Rizzo’s, 550 North French Road, Amherst.
The evening will feature food from leading local celebrity chefs, wine tasting, live entertainment, live and silent auctions and a variety of prizes.
