Wolniewicz teams for another state four-ball title

Jeff Wolniewicz of West Seneca added a second straight New York State Golf Association Amateur Four-Ball championship to his resume Monday when he and Jonathan Clark took the title at Leatherstocking Golf Club in Cooperstown.

The pair from Crag Burn shot 7-under 65 for their second round Monday for an overall 133, 11 under. Wolniewicz accounted for five of the team's six birdies in Monday's round.  Clark had two and they each shot a birdie-3 on the 14th.

Wolniewicz, the 2008 state Men’s Amateur champion who golfed in college at Binghamton, teamed with Billy Gaffney to win the title last year, also at Leatherstocking. Clark is a repeat winner, too. He won in 2013 with Matt Stasiak.

Wolniewicz and Clark were tied for fifth at 68 after the first round Sunday.

Billy Hanes and David Hanes of Crag Burn tied for second at 134 after their 66 round on Sunday. First day leaders Alex Misiti and James Tee of Shelridge CC found up with with 137. The Senior Division title went to Robert Branham of Clifton Springs CC and Kevin Webb of Canasawacta CC with 66-136. Michael Grace and John Miosi of Brookfield tied for fourth at 71-139.

Chris Miller playing out the Links at Ivy Ridge defeated Jay Collier of Lockport Town and CC 4 and 3 to win the Buffalo District Senior Match Play Championship at Harvest Hill Golf Center.

In the semifinals, Collier defeated Dan Irwin (CC Buffalo), 1 up, while Miller was defeating Rick Wargala (Diamond Hawk), 1 up.

Rob Krajewski of Orchard Park Cc shot 3-under 67 to win the Seneca Allegany Resort and Casino Pro-Am on Monday. Danny Kaye of Birch Run was next at 69 while Lonnie Nielsen (Orchard Park CC) was third at 70.
