FC Buffalo outshot Dayton, 16-7, Saturday night at All High Stadium but could not get one past Dynamo goalkeeper Paulo Pinto and suffered a 1-0 defeat.
It was the National Premier Soccer League East Conference opener for FC Buffalo.
Dayton scored on a penalty kick in the 55th minute and was able to hold on the rest of the way thanks to the work of Pinto.
Pinto was shaken up after a collision with Kendell McFayden of FC Buffalo, but was able to carry on.
Buffalo won seven corners to three for Dayton.
The Dynamo is 1-0-1 including a 3-3 draw with AFC Cleveland last Saturday.
Next for Buffalo will be a Friday night game at the Erie Commodores. Next home game will be against the Rochester Lancers June 2 at All High.
Madisyn Pezzino scored the tying goal in the 87th minute after assisting on a second-half tally by Carissima Cutrona to give the WNY Flash a 2-2 tie with the New York Surf in the opener of Saturday’s soccer doubleheader at All High. The Flash is 0-1-2 for the season.
The Surf, which triumphed over WNY last weekend, led 2-0 after a first half goal by Meagen Doyle and a tally by Furtuna Velej in the 57th minute. Cutrona’s goal came in the 61st minute. She plays at Colgate after starring at Williamsville South.
Margretta Dry assisted on the goal by Pezzino, who starred at Grand Island High and is headed to Florida State University.
