Former champions Tony Dolan and Brad Angelo and a pair of promising young lions advanced to Sunday's Final Four of the 54th George A. Obenauer Masters Tournament at Kenmore Lanes.
Former St. Joe's star Kevin Bienko of Kenmore will face off with 2015 winner Dolan of West Seneca in the winners bracket final. In an elimination match, four-time winner Brad Angelo of Lockport will face Dana Voytovich of Cheektowaga, a recent star at Erie Community College.
Dolan advanced with a 622-539 victory over Voytovich on Saturday. Bienko outdueled another twenty-ish bowler in Andrew Herbert of Eden, 675-640.
Saturday's competition saw the bids of two former Masters winners fall by the wayside.
Mike Hanes of Niagara Falls, trying for a record fifth Obenauer title, lost to Bill Swiat of Cheektowaga, 603-541. Mike Faliero lost to Angel0, 657-623. Angelo then sent Herbert home, but not without a struggle. The PBA Tour veteran led by only six pins, 654-648, going into the third game of the three-game total pinfall match. Angelo finally wore down his younger opponent, 222-189 to move on.
Also eliminated in the early round on Saturday were Vern Dietz of Lockport and Steve Dorobiala of Orchard Park. Swiat knocked out Larry Fiorella of Tonawanda before he fell to young Voytovich, 622-609.
Mike Johnson of Grand Island, who shot the night's high series, a 720 to defeat Dorobiala, was then eliminated by Angelo, 652-579. Johnson shot games of 267 and 254 in his victory over Dorobiala but fell behind by 66 pins after two games against Angelo.

The Dolan-Bienko loser will face the winner of Angelo-Voytovich in the semifinal at 2 p.m. The championship match or matches if necessary will start around 3 p.m.
