A Delevan man Thursday was sentenced to six months in jail and five years probation for striking and killing a road surveyor last July.
Robert Sutherland, 22, also has his driver's license revoked for a minimum of one year by Erie County Court Judge Michael F. Pietruszka.
In January, Sutherland pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter for the death of Sam Pagano, 22, of Sardinia.
Sutherland was high on marijuana and speeding on July 6, 2016, while driving on Route 39 in Sardinia, according to the Erie County District Attorney's Office.
Sutherland's car crossed the center line and struck Pagano, who was surveying the road at the time of the crash.
