81-year-old pedestrian struck in Town of Tonawanda

An 81-year-old woman struck by a car while crossing Sheridan Drive on Tuesday night suffered a possible skull fracture, Town of Tonawanda police said.

The woman was walking with a walker south across Sheridan at Delaware Avenue at about 9:26 p.m. when she was struck by a driver heading east on Sheridan, police said.

The pedestrian, who lived near the scene and who was taken to Erie County Medical Center with multiple serious injuries, was walking in the crosswalk when she was struck, said Tonawanda Police Capt. Joseph Carosi.

She was being treated in the hospital's intensive care unit, police said.

Police identified the driver of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze only as an 83-year-old woman.

Police have interviewed several witnesses and are continuing to investigate, Carosi said.
