Traffic identified as major issue in comprehensive plan for Lancaster, Depew

One issue has emerged early as a priority as the Town of Lancaster and villages of Lancaster and Depew set out to develop a joint comprehensive plan – traffic.

"We have a lot of it in Lancaster and not necessarily the fastest routes to get people where they need to be," Councilman John Abraham Jr. said.

Public input on traffic and other issues is welcome during an informational meeting Thursday evening. Officials want the plan to guide zoning and development decisions in the three communities.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a presentation at 7 in the Lancaster Opera House, 21 Central Ave., followed by an open discussion. Wendel, an architecture and engineering firm hired by the communities as a consultant, will facilitate Thursday's meeting.

The plan will address issues such as the communities' Main Streets, economic development, parks and recreation, environmental protection and zoning.
