Former Buffalo Bill Fred Jackson the guest speaker for fourth annual Prep Talk Awards

One of Buffalo's favorite athletes will help celebrate this year's best-of-the-best in high school sports.

Former Buffalo Bills star Fred Jackson will be the guest speaker for the 2017 Prep Talk Awards on Wednesday, June 14 at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo Hotel and Conference Center.

Jackson, who played nine seasons for the Bills, is one of the most popular players in team history. The News' Tim Graham chronicled fans' feelings for Jackson in this 2014 story: Why Buffalo loves Fred Jackson.

Previous Prep Talk Awards speakers have been Olympic gold medalist Steve Mesler (2016) and former Buffalo Bills Steve Tasker (2015) and Andre Reed (2014).

The Prep Talk Awards honor the best in Western New York high school sports, including Prep Talk Players of the Year in every sport, the All-Western New York first teams in football and basketball, and overall winners among athletes, coaches, teams and athletic programs. There are also very special honors, including the [BN]spired Award.

The Prep Talk Players of the Year, and finalists for other top awards, will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.

The Prep Talk Awards will be hosted by Buffalo News Deputy Sports Editor Keith McShea as well as radio personalities Janet Snyder and Nicholas Picholas. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.; doors open at 5:30 p.m. Reserve your tickets by contacting Lisa Cislo, 716-849-5522 or
