Washington, D.C., couple arrested at Peace Bridge on felony drug counts

Germain B. Leslie and his wife, Tyria N. Leslie, both 31, from Washington, D.C., were taken into custody on the Peace Bridge by Buffalo police Sunday afternoon after they allegedly tried to sneak 8.8 grams of cocaine into the United States.

After border security officers using a Border Patrol drug dog reported finding the cocaine hidden in the driver's side mirror of the couple's sedan as they tried to reenter the country from Canada, Buffalo police were called to take the Leslies into custody about 3:50 p.m. Sunday.

According to Buffalo Police arrest and booking reports, Germain Leslie was born on the island of Dominica and his wife is a native of Jamaica, but both are now U.S. citizens. Information about the couple's occupations in the nation's capital were not released by Border Patrol officials or Buffalo Police.
