Buffalo woman dies in head-on crash in Sheldon

A 23-year-old Buffalo woman died Saturday morning when the car she was driving crossed over into oncoming traffic and struck a car driven by a Buffalo man head-on.

Jessica K. Lombardo was eastbound on Route 20A near North Sheldon Road in the Town of Sheldon shortly before 8 a.m. when her vehicle crossed into the westbound lane, according to the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office. Her vehicle collided with one driven by Daniel G. Scheck, 33, of Buffalo, which was traveling west on Route 20A.

Deputies said Lombardo was pronounced dead at the scene, while Scheck was transported to a local hospital. The Wyoming County Crash Management Team was called, and assisted the State Police, Harris Corners and Sheldon fire departments and Medic 80.

Deputies said the investigation is continuing.
