Residents can comment on changes to Amherst's comprehensive plan

Amherst residents will have a chance to say what they think about changes proposed to the town's comprehensive plan at two upcoming meetings.

The town is hosting public information meetings Wednesday in the Transit Middle School cafeteria, 8730 Transit Road, East Amherst, and May 23 in the Amherst Middle School library, 55 Kings Highway, Snyder. Both sessions start at 6 p.m.

The meetings are part of the ongoing Imagine Amherst planning process that seeks to reshape a number of commercial centers in the town and to guide future development there. Committees and consultants have spent months, with public input, working on the proposed comprehensive code amendments.

Later on, Imagine Amherst planners will take up potential changes to the town's zoning code. Eventually the town's Planning Board and Town Board will vote on the revisions to both codes. For more information visit
