League of Women Voters explores the role of ethics in government

Are ethics in government a lost cause?

The League of Women Voters of Buffalo Niagara will present retired state Supreme Court Justice Penny M. Wolfgang and Kevin Connor, co-founder and director of the Public Accountability Initiative, to discuss the question. The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 17 at the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site, 641 Delaware Ave.

Other issues to be considered include: What is the role of ethics in government? What do conflicts of interest look like and why are they unethical? How can elected officials be compelled to put the public good over their own self-interest?

The discussion is free and open to the public, but the League is requesting those who will attend to RSVP by calling 986-4898 or emailing lwvbn@lwvbn.org.
