During his year off from coaching following his dismissal from the Pittsburgh Penguins, Dan Bylsma toured North America watching other teams and coaches, and also spent time on the air with NHL Network as an analyst during the 2015 World Junior Championships in Montreal. During that tournament, he watched a kid name Jack Eichel play as one of the marquee players for Team USA.
Bylsma, of course, is back on the unemployment line again after getting dumped by the Sabres last month, so he is going back on the air.
NHL Network has announced it will be using Bylsma as a studio analyst for three nights starting Tuesday. He will appear on "NHL Tonight" Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Thursday, both at 10 p.m., along with former players Mike Johnson, Mike Rupp and Kevin Weekes.
But don't expect Bylsma to offer any revelations about his two years in Buffalo or his firing. He has three years left on his contract and virtually all employees fired by Terry and Kim Pegula have non-disclosure clauses that prevent them from speaking on the team while they are still being paid.
Bylsma politely responded to texts from The News a couple of days after his firing, reiterating he would have no comment.
