A 13-year-old boy suffered minor injuries to his arm and knee and when he was struck by a car on W. Quaker Street in the Village of Orchard Park Friday afternoon, Orchard Park Town Police said.
Shortly before 3 p.m., the boy ran across the street after being prompted by a stopped vehicle on the eastbound side, according to the investigation. Jessica Meland, 34, of Depew, who was westbound in a 2016 Chevy Cruz attempted to swerve to avoid hitting the boy but still hit him. Police said her "actions likely limited the injuries suffered." The area where the boy was struck was not a marked crosswalk.
The boy was treated at the scene and released to his family.
