We should be investing in Depew Amtrak station
Buffalo Amtrak trains use the rails of privately owned freight railroads at their convenience. It is not surprising that schedules of passenger trains to Niagara Falls and Canada are problematic, late and have poor ridership. A new Buffalo station will not change that.
The Depew Amtrak station is easily reached from the city and suburbs via Interstate 90, Interstate 290, Route 33 and Dick Road. No public hearings, consultants, engineering or special committees are necessary. Tickets can be purchased from Amtrak.com or at the depot. The station has a lounge, free parking, taxi stand, food dispensers, restrooms and a ticket counter.
Get on a train there to go to Chicago, Cleveland, upstate communities, Albany, New York City, Vermont and Canada, with many stops along the way. The train comes in about 15 minutes ahead of the schedule, and you better get on board because the train leaves right as promised.
