Efficiency of roundabouts has been pleasant surprise
I had my doubts about roundabouts when I first heard they were planned for my corner at Harlem Road and Cleveland Drive in Cheektowaga. But I have been pleasantly surprised at its efficiency for moving traffic.
I heard from acquaintances and neighbors that some people were afraid to navigate them and would avoid them altogether. I’m surprised the state or county doesn’t try to educate the public more.
Just a brief summation from a fellow driver. Approach the roundabout at a slower speed and yield to any traffic already in the circle. Once in the circle, you have the right of way, but use caution. Do not yield to traffic entering the circle. If you do, you defeat the purpose of the roundabout as a traffic mover.
