The New Pornographers, Cloud Nothings team up for Babeville show

Critical darlings the New Pornographers have announced a welcome return to Buffalo with a performance set for 8 p.m. July 25 in Babeville's Asbury Hall (341 Delaware Ave.).

Featuring acclaimed songwriters A.C. Newman, Neko Case and Dan Bejar, the Vancouver supergroup has been releasing record after record of intelligent and addictive power-pop since sharing its debut album, the critically praised "Mass Romantic," back in 2000.

The group released its latest album, the synth-heavy "Whiteout Conditions," in April.

Opening for New Pornographers will be Cloud Nothings. The angsty Ohio indie rockers must have a thing for  Buffalo, having just played the Tralf Music Hall in late April while on tour to support the new album "Life Without Sound."
