Monday's storm breaks 142-year-old record for rain

Buffalo broke a 142-year-old record for rainfall Monday, according to the National Weather Service office in Buffalo.

The weather service reported that 1.29 inches of rain fell Monday as a storm swept through the region, causing flooding in some areas.

The old record of 0.77 inches was set in 1875, back when Ulysses S. Grant was president.

After the tornado watch, Western New York will feel -- fall-ish?
