Building the Medical Campus: 14 elevators will lift 3,773 daily at Children's

Fourteen elevators recently installed in the new John R. Oishei Children's Hospital and made by Otis Elevator Co. are expected to make lots of trips to serve the hospital's needs.

Just how many ups and downs?

Kaleida Health, which will operate the new hospital opening in November on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, said that in all,  a combined total of about 3,773 patients, visitors, equipment and staff each day will be transported on the elevators during the traditional peak hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The elevators range from transport elevators to patient and visitor elevators.
