You can celebrate the signing of the Lackawanna City Charter at a free pictorial lecture by author Gerald L. Halligan on May 9 in the museum of the Lackawanna Library.
Gov. Charles E. Hughes signed the charter that incorporated Lackawanna as a city May 29, 1909. Halligan, who wrote the book "Lackawanna," will discuss the people and the events that helped make Lackawanna the Steel City.
The lecture presented by the Lackawanna Historical Association is scheduled at 6 p.m. in the library located at 550 Ridge Road. Light refreshments will be served.
