RIPLEY – A 45-year-old Westfield man is in critical condition after striking a guardrail and being ejected from his motorcycle Sunday night, state police said.
The crash happened at about 9:17 p.m. on State Route 20 in Chautauqua County. A trooper reported the motorcyclist passed his vehicle on the double-yellow line at a high rate of speed and then failed to negotiate a slight curve, police said.
The motorcyclist struck a guardrail and ended up in a field next to the road after being ejected.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken by state medivac helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio.
State police are continuing to investigate.
