Suspect arrested in $5 Allentown robbery

An Eggert Road man  is accused of  beating  and robbing a man of $5 in Allentown early Sunday.

Jason McCormick, 47,  was  charged with second-degree robbery, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree assault, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, obstructing governmental administration and harassment.

McCormick, police said,  was arrested near the scene of the robbery on Allen Street about 1:30 a.m. Police said the victim was punched in the face and knocked to the ground.

McCormick also was in possession of two plastic pipes containing cocaine residue, said police, who added that they found the $5 bill in the suspect's pants pocket.
