STRAMAGLIA, Francesco "Frank"

STRAMAGLIA - Francesco "Frank" Born March 26, 1930, passed suddenly on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the age of 87 from complications of illness. Frank was the beloved husband of the late Ruth Stramaglia. He is survived by his three children Cynthia Stramaglia, Mark Stramaglia (Patricia), Steve Stramaglia (Eileen) and three grandchildren: Jessie, Katie and Aaron. He was born and raised in Buffalo, New York and was baptized Catholic. He lived in Italy for 7 months during second grade then returned to the United States. He graduated from Lafayette High School and then graduated with a Pharmacy degree from the University of Buffalo in 1952. He gave his fiance;e Ruth her engagement ring on January 1, 1953. They were married on January 16, 1954 at St. Nicholas Church, and enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Frank enlisted in the United States Air Force at age 22 and was stationed in Kimpo, Korea from January 1954 through January 1955. He wrote letters home to his new bride often while he was away. By 1956 Frank and Ruth were reunited and starting their family. His first child, Cynthia, was born in Washington D.C. but he returned to Buffalo with Ruth. They built their home in the new Green Acres development in Tonawanda, New York which is where they lived throughout most of their years together. He and Ruth also raised their sons, Mark and Steven, in this home. Frank cherished Christmas with his children and the fun of watching them on Christmas mornings. Between the ages of 11-22 Frank worked a variety of jobs ranging from shoe shine boy to stock clerk. After his service in the military and completing his pharmacy degree, Frank was a well-known and sought out pharmacist throughout Western New York in various stores ranging from Sattler's to Green Acres to Colvin-Eggert and many years for Rite-Aid. Frank loved to roller skate, skated throughout his life with Ruth and then also took his three children roller skating every Saturday night throughout their childhood into their adolescence. Frank and Ruth were members of the St. Edmund Parish and then St. Christopher Parish. Reflecting on life lessons he had learned, Frank expressed that he had learned to have faith in God to see you through adversities. Frank recently lived at the Brookdale Sterling House Assisted Living Community in North Tonawanda. He was dedicated to his wife and was a caregiver for her until her passing two years ago. He enjoyed visits with his children and grandchildren. He also stayed in touch with his Italian family members many of whom live in Toronto. The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 3-7 PM at the (Tonawanda, Chapel) AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2600 Sheridan Dr. (corner Parker). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 8, 2017 at St. Christopher Parish, 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd at 9:30 AM Family and friends invited.
