NIAGARA FALLS - An 87-year-old landlord was beaten and robbed shortly after 6:30 p.m. Saturday by a former tenant he hired to help renovate a vacant Niagara Avenue apartment, Niagara Falls police said.
Police said an argument erupted over the quality of the work being performed, and when the former tenant demanded payment, the victim refused to pay until the job was completed. The suspect became angry and hit the landlord twice before stealing $280 in cash from his pants pocket, police said.
The ex-tenant fled on foot. Injuries to the landlord were not serious, police said.
