A Beiter Walk woman faces charges after refusing orders to get out of a vehicle and fighting with officers about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Buffalo Police said.
Maria Gilliam, 37, is charged with criminal mischief with intent to damage property, petit larceny, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and acting in a manner injurious to a child. She was arrested during a traffic stop in the 1800 block of Genesee Street, when the driver accused Gilliam of stealing her cellphone, police said.
The suspect resisted when police attempted to remove her from the vehicle, causing damage, police said. A child was also in the vehicle at the time, said police, who added that the suspect fought with officers she was pepper-sprayed.
