Jamestown man charged with drug, child endangerment charges

TOWN OF CHAUTAUQUA - A Jamestown is facing drug and child endangerment after a traffic stop on Hannum Road early Saturday, Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies said.

David A. Burkholder, 34, is charged with  fourth-, fifth- and seventh-degree criminal possession of controlled substances, criminal possession of marijuana and endangering the welfare of a child.

Deputies dispatched to Hannum  about 5 a.m. in response to the report of an altercation said they stopped Burkholder as he was driving away  with a 6-year-old child in his vehicle, which also contained 52 grams of marijuana, 96 prescription narcotic pills, 7 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms, drug scales, packaging material and more than $1,000 in cash.

Burkholder was remanded to Chautauqua County Jail, Mayville, without bail after he pleaded not guilty to the charges in Chautauqua Town Court.
