The Buffalo Niagara Medical Center Inc. has hired Marc Pope in a new role with the organization as its community program manager to handle community engagement initiatives and oversee programs that benefit local residents, particularly within a one-mile radius of the Medical Campus.
BNMC, the nonprofit organization that coordinates infrastructure and other work on campus, also has named Harimala Filate as senior accountant responsible for accounts receivable and general accounting.
Pope, who most recently worked as community liaison for state Sen. Timothy Kennedy, D-Buffalo, will focus on programs designed to promote economic opportunity, health and wellness and the neighborhood solar partnership.
Pope also worked as an alarm/sprinkler technician with Elwood Fire Protection and as an inspector technician with Kratos Defense & Security.
Filate, a native of Ethiopia, is a student at the University at Buffalo who will graduate with a bachelor's degree in economics and a minor in finance in May. She previously served as a regional marketing and account manager for Tax Shield Service and as an associate at Burlington Coat Factory.
