Town of Tonawanda police on Sunday charged a Williamsville man with driving while impaired by drugs with a 2-year-old in the vehicle.
Police pulled over Michael J. Batt, 36, at about 12:30 p.m. on Kenmore Avenue near Starin Avenue, the department said Tuesday.
Batt failed several field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, police said. The child's grandfather came to the scene to take custody of the child, according to authorities.
Batt was also charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law, for having a child under 16 in the vehicle, and a felony count of DWI-drugs due to a prior DWI conviction in the last 10 years, police said. He was also charged with child endangerment and ticketed for several vehicle and traffic violations, police said.
Batt is scheduled to be arraigned in Tonawanda Town Court on May 15.
