The Place, Gypsy Parlor plan outdoor patios

The Place on Lexington Avenue and Gypsy Parlor on Grant Street are planning to add outdoor dining this summer.

The Buffalo Common Council will consider two proposed outdoor patios, after the city Planning Board recommended approval for The Place on Lexington and Gypsy Parlor.

Jay McCarthy, owner of The Place at 225 Lexington Ave., wants to build a porch onto the front of the building enabling outdoor dining for his patrons.

"We've suffered such hardship when summer comes, because we're pretty much a winter place," McCarthy told Planning Board members. "This is an opportunity to not only enhance the neighborhood, but it's also an opportunity for us to build a summer business."

Separately, Todd Mattina, co-owner of Gypsy Parlor at 376 Grant St., wants to extend an existing outdoor summer patio on Potomac Street around the side and front of the building along Grant.
