NFL Draft position grades: Safeties

[2017 Draft Rankings: WR | QB | RBTE | OL | CB | S | LB | DT | Edge]

SAFETIES

Class grade: A. There have been only five safeties drafted in the first five picks since 1980. Both Jamal Adams and Malik Hooker have top-five potential this year. … Jabrill Peppers’ draft status may have taken a hit when news came out a few days ago that his urine test at the NFL Scouting Combine was flagged as diluted. … “This is one of the deepest safety classes we have seen in a long time,” nfl.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein wrote. “In fact, starters can probably be found in just about every round.” One thing that stands out: The height of nearly every top prospect is ideal.
