Clarence native Case McCarthy named to U.S. national team

Clarence native Case McCarthy has been named to the U.S. National Under-17 team. Part of USA Hockey's National Team Development Program, located in Plymouth, Mich., the team plays in the United States Hockey League. The team also plays against select competition from the North American Hockey League and Minnesota Elite League while competing in three international tournaments, including the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, 2017 Four Nations Tournament and 2018 Five Nations Tournament.

McCarthy, who committed to Boston University, played in the Buffalo Jr. Sabres organization this past season. The defenseman played 25 games for the U-16 team with five goals and nine assists.
