HOLLAND, Charles Francois

HOLLAND - Charles Francois June 11, 1956 - April 17, 2017
Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, Chuck passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital. He was sixty years old. Born in Geneva, Switzerland, Chuck was the oldest son of Charles Bampfield Holland-Moritz and Jacqueline Koifman Holland. The Niagara/Buffalo area where he attended Nichols and The Hill was home to Charles. He later lived in Lake Forest, Illinois where he attended college. He then moved to Cottonwood, AZ. It was in Venice, California where Charles met and wed Janice Radavich. Last week the two celebrated their twenty-ninth wedding anniversary. They have two sons, Charles Michel and Jean-Pierre, both residing in Los Angeles, CA. Charles was a true Renaissance Man, who some described as being "larger than life." Not only was he fluent in several languages, but he was an amazing chef, organic gardener, photographer, sportsman, and loved animals. He was also a philanthropist. One year ago, he earned his third degree black belt in the martial art of Aikido and he taught weapon training. Chuck had a passion and respect for all things Japanese. He traveled to Japan several times to visit temples and to absorb the culture. He spoke a respectable amount of Japanese, which was greatly admired by those he met on his travels. This passion brought him to the Japanese Pavilion of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) where Charles and Janice enjoyed their position in the Japanese Acquisition Group. The Holland Family shared many passions. Another was the Vertebrae Paleontology Department of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, where they were honored with a newly discovered Dino-bird genus, HOLLANDA, named after their family, Chuck was always interested in cars - fast cars. As a young man he raced open wheel cars in the SCCA. He was branded to all things BMW and was a lifelong member of the BMWCCA. He loved driving fast and could be often found at the Laguna Seca race track on the Monterey Peninsula in his M5 or another of his BMW cars. For the last six years, Chuck was a partner of TC Kline with a shop located in Santa Barbara, California and Hilliard, Ohio. Chuck is survived by his wife and two sons, as well as his younger brother, Michel John Holland (Buffalo, NY) and his two children, John and Alexandra Holland. Chuck is an uncle to nine and a great-uncle to twenty, through his Radavich union. Chuck was loved and respected, and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. His interment will be on Friday, April 28,2017 at 11:00 at the Riverdale Cemetery in Lewiston, NY where he will rest in peace with his father, Charles Bampfield Holland-Moritz and his paternal grandparents, Charles George and Lenora Holland-Moritz. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to The Nichols General Fund in his Memory. Share condolences at
