Beer news: 12 Gates, CBW, Collective Arts

Try a coffee porter

12 Gates Brewing Company (80 Earhart Drive, Amherst) is now canning its Coffee Porter. The popular 5.8 percent ABV beer has dark chocolate, light roast and toffee flavors mixed with traditional English hops.

The beer is then dosed with a large amount of cold-brewed coffee from area roasters. It will launch in beer retail outlets in Erie and Niagara counties during the weekend of April 29. Call 906-6600.

A new pale ale from CBW

Community Beer Works (15 Lafayette Ave.) will release its Milkshake Pale Ale on April 29. At 5.4 percent ABV, the beer is an American-style pale ale conditioned on vanilla beans and strawberries. This beer will be exclusive to the CBW tap room in four-ounce and 14-ounce pours, as well as 32-ounce fills for customers to take home.

To celebrate its release, Community Beer Works will also have a make-your-own-slider bar, featuring Mark Supples from Mothers Restaurant. Its the first in a series of similar installments. Call 759-4677.

Welcome Collective Arts

Brewed & Bottled (402 Center St., Lewiston) welcomes the Hamilton, Ont.-based brewery Collective Arts to the area with a special event from 5 to 8 p.m. April 28.

The tap list includes Project IPA #2 (featuring Mosaic, Simcoe & Waimea hops) alongside Ransack the Universe IPA. Featured cans will include Saint of Circumstance (citrus blonde ale) and Project Dry-Hopped Sour. Area artists, including Black Lab Metal Fab and Legacy Eyewear, will be selling their creations and offering demos. Call 405-7298.
