MANCUSO, Susan Rose (Kuca)
MANCUSO - Susan Rose (Kuca) Born December 22, 1927, passed away peacefully in Los Angeles on September 30, 2016. She is survived by her children: Renee, Michele and Martin Mancuso; Martin's wife, Pernilla Hedin; and grandchildren Nick and Miranda Kubasti and Emilia and Melina Mancuso. Susan grew up in modest circumstances in Buffalo, New York. She often credited her motivation for post-secondary school education to her love of reading. As a result, in 1945, Susan enrolled in the Nurse Cadet Program at the Edward J. Meyer Memorial School of Nursing. Upon graduating, she worked in several Veteran's Administration Hospitals in New York State, ultimately returning to the VA in her hometown, where she met her husband James in 1953. They married in 1954 and settled in Albany, New York in 1961. During this time they welcomed three children; Susan devoted her attention their early childhood, and returned to nursing at Albany Medical Center in 1969. In 2003, Susan and James relocated to Los Angeles. Shortly before James passed away in 2005, they moved to Hollenbeck Palms. Susan made many good friends there and continued to participate in her favorite activities including opera, concerts, dancing, and bowling. A mass for Susan will be celebrated at St. John Kanty Parish in Buffalo, New York on April 30th.
