A retired Tonawanda city police officer who serves as the Common Council's Fourth Ward councilman announced Saturday he will run for mayor.
Timothy Toth, a Republican, is seeking to unseat Mayor Rick Davis, a Democrat, who is expected to campaign for a second four-year term.
Toth was born and raised in the City of Tonawanda and retired after 24 years in the city's police department.
"As a first-term council member, I have had the pleasure of working as the Land Sales Liaison and on the Finance Committee," Toth said in a news release. "And, relative to those two positions I will be working hard to find suitable, reliable and functional projects to fill up the Spaulding Commerce Park, as well as, creating budgets that will bring the city’s finances closer to the state mandated 2 percent tax cap."
