U.S. Senior National Team members Anita Alvarez of Kenmore and Victoria Woroniecki of Palm Coast, Fla., won two silver medals in duet Saturday at the China Open in Taiyuan China. The event is the second of three in the new FINA Synchronized Swimming World Series.
The U.S. duet finished second behind host China in the tech competition Saturday morning before claiming a second silver medal in free during the night session.
"They swam a great first lap and made just a few little mistakes in the second part," U.S. National Team Coach Lolli Montico said. "We haven’t been able to train as much due to an injury, but we are planning to fix the little things for Japan."
Alvarez is expected to take part in solo tech on Sunday.
The U.S. team will compete next in the Japan Open in Tokyo starting Friday.
