Two Family Dollar stores in Erie County will close.
The affected locations are:
- Grand Island Plaza, 2391 Grand Island Blvd. on Grand Island
- 41 Buffalo Road in East Aurora
They are two of 323 stores across the country being sold to rival Dollar General. They were among those sold to private equity firm Sycamore Partners in 2015 in order for Family Dollar to gain federal antitrust approvals for its merger with Dollar Tree.
Most of the 323 stores will convert to the Dollar General brand, though some will be liquidated and closed.
