West Seneca Town Board members will conduct a special meeting at 10 a.m. Monday to consider awarding a contract for mold remediation work at the town ice rink.
The supervisor said air quality at the rink was tested and there were no health issues, according to minutes of the March 27 meeting. The rink in past years has opened in August. But this year the ice will not be opened until Oct. 1 to prevent the problem of excess humidity, which could promote mold, from reoccurring.
The town's summer day camp program uses the rink building and Veterans Park grounds, but the mold is to be removed before the start of summer day camp at the end of June.
