Get yourself ready for today's #PrepTalkLive action with everything you need to know about the day ahead in high school sports.
What to watch for Wednesday
1. Baseball - Niagara Falls at Clarence, 10 a.m.
Niagara Falls (2-1) visits Clarence (1-0) in a battle between Class AA schools.
The Red Devils beat Frontier, 8-0, last week in their lone game to date. Jared Shalke, Niko Arroyave-Mullen and Nick Ciraolo are all returning starters for Clarence.
The Wolverines have played three Niagara Frontier League games so far: wins over North Tonawanda and Niagara Wheatfield and a loss to Lew-Port. Seniors Ross Pochatko, Michael Laurrie and Matthew Grace have combined for 10 of the team's 14 RBIs so far this season.
2. Baseball - Fredonia at Hamburg, noon
Hamburg (1-1) hosts Fredonia (1-1) in a nonleague matchup between strong programs.
The Bulldogs have a win over Iroquois and a loss to Class A contender Williamsville East. All-ECIC I second teamer Jake Storey returns as Hamburg's top player.
The Hillbillies, last year's Class B state runner-up, are coming off a huge 21-9 win over Class B foe Gowanda on Monday. Reid Tarnowski, Ryan Mroczka, Lucas Voss and Vince Gullo were All-CCAA West I members last season.
3. Softball - Nichols at North Tonawanda, 4:30 p.m.
Junior Erin Sammarco and senior Savannah Haner return as the captains for North Tonawanda (1-2). The Lumberjacks went 8-11 overall last season and 5-9 in the Niagara Frontier League.
This is the first game for Nichols, which is looking to recapture its magic from the 2013 and 2014 seasons when the Vikings won back-to-back Monsignor Martin Association titles. The team is young with three seniors and no juniors on the 16-player roster.
