Yes? No. A response from 'the other Yes'

Not everyone is saying "YES!" to the Yes news, and that includes some other members of Yes.

After my piece announcing that Anderson Rabin Wakeman would be touring as "Yes featuring Jon Anderson Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman" was published on Monday, representatives from the other Yes - the version of the band featuring guitarist Steve Howe, drummer Alan White, singer Jon Davison, bassist Billy Sherwood and keyboardist Geoff Downes - issued a response through the band's publicists:

"While Jon Anderson has rights to use the name as one of the co-owners of the trademark,  Yes’ position is that every effort should be made by promoters, ticket agencies and all involved to respect Yes’ magnificent and loyal fan-base and minimize confusion regarding the use of 'Yes Featuring Anderson, Rabin, Wakeman.' ”

The Howe-led version of the band is also on tour this summer, to promote what it is calling "Yestival: A Full Festival Experience." The bill features performances from Yes, Todd Rundgren and Carl Palmer's ELP Legacy. "Yestival" is not booked for the Western New York market - the tour comes no closer than an Aug. 20 stop at the Jacobs Pavilion in Cleveland.

Yes Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin & Rick Wakeman is scheduled to play the Seneca Niagara Casino Events Center on Oct. 7.
