A Lockport man found unconscious behind the wheel after a one-car crash in Newstead on Monday was charged with driving while impaired by drugs, the Erie County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies responded to Main Street just before 4 p.m. and found Matthew Metlak, 23, unresponsive. A sheriff's deputy who is a drug recognition expert determined Metlak was impaired by drugs, the Sheriff's Office said.
Metlak also was charged with drinking alcohol in a vehicle on a road and two vehicle and traffic violations. He was turned over to his parents, authorities said.
