Batavia woman charged with burglary, threatening employees with knife

A Batavia woman was charged Saturday with burglarizing a State Street Road business and threatening employees with a knife, the Genesee County Sheriff's Office said.

Ann M. Capuano, 32, was stopped on a bicycle shortly after 8 a.m., heading away from where the incident occurred, the Sheriff's Office said.

The victims told investigators Capuano entered the business and damaged property. When the staff told her to stay to wait for police, she threatened them with a knife, according to authorities.

Capuano was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree menacing, third-degree criminal trespass, possession of burglar tools and fourth-degree criminal mischief. She was also issued a traffic ticket for failure to keep right on a bicycle. She was arraigned in Batavia Town Court and remanded to the Genesee County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Capuano is due in court on April 17.
