Letter: Focus on renovating existing train stations

Focus on renovating existing train stations

How is it that we about to spend in excess of $30 million for 200 people who arrive or leave via Amtrak daily? How many of those are locals versus out-of-town travelers? Our politicians are nuts! Why not spend $5 million to upgrade or rebuild the Depew and Exchange Street stations instead?

Let the developers redo the Central Terminal or demolish this dinosaur and create affordable housing. It could be called “the Village on Broadway.” Use Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s $25 million as seed money for this purpose. What a wonderful shot in the arm for the East Side that would be. Many of our immigrant population would love it.

As for the out-of-towners, provide them with free on-call van shuttle service paid for equally by the county and city.
