Amherst man charged with drug possession after traffic stop

Luca J. Paolini, 21, of Amherst, pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Amherst Town Court to felony and misdemeanor drug counts and a marijuana charge.

Justice Geoffrey K. Klein allowed Paolini, who spent Tuesday night in jail, to be released on his own recognizance pending further court proceedings April 27.

Paolini was pulled over by Amherst police on Main Street near Allenhurst Road about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to an Amherst police report. After a check of his vehicle, Paolini was charged with a felony count of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, according to court officials.
