The driver of a truck that struck another vehicle Monday before rolling over near the Church Street entrance to the Interstate 190 suffered an opioid overdose before losing control of his vehicle, according to a Buffalo police spokesman.
The accident occurred about 7:40 p.m. Police did not release the identity of the driver who overdosed. Investigators said he lost control of his vehicle and struck another vehicle from behind. Emergency responders used Narcan at the scene to revive him and he was transported to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.
The driver of the vehicle that was struck was taken to Mercy Hospital in South Buffalo, where he was treated for injuries that police said were not life-threatening.
Police investigators were continuing their investigation Tuesday and awaiting the results of toxicology tests on the driver who overdosed.
No charges had been filed in connection with the accident.
