A downtown Buffalo collision shop on Pearl Street has acquired a century-old industrial building in which it has been operating a second location on the edge of the city's core, just behind the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino.
Collision Masters, through 290 South Park LLC, paid $1.1 million to acquire a complex of structures at 290 South Park Ave. from Jentsch & Co. Inc., a metal fabricator that previously moved to Dorothy Street in the Seneca-Babcock neighborhood.
The deal had been in the works for a couple of years, but took a while to complete because of the complex financing, said James R. Militello, a broker who had been working with Jentsch to sell the building but was not involved in this transaction. In the meantime, though, the collision shop had started renovating the facility a year ago.
The 27,984-square-foot building dates to 1881, when the first wooden portion was built. The building was expanded in 1920 and 1950, with a pre-engineered ClearSpan section added in 1970.
