A new post office location will open Monday in the Village of Hamburg.
Blue Rooster, 180 Buffalo St., will offer retail post office services, including stamps, express mail, first class mail, priority mail, insured mail, certified mail and registered mail. The store will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The Blue Rooster re-purposes and up-cycles vintage and antique home goods, creates new items, sells Buffalo-themed items by local artisans and offers artisan classes.
The last contract post office in Hamburg was opened in Staub Square in 2013, said Karen Mazurkiewicz, spokeswoman for the U.S. Postal Service. The full-service Hamburg Post Office moved from Main Street two miles away to Camp Road in 2001.
Mazurkiewicz also said the search for a new full service location for the Lakeview Post Office is ongoing. Once the Post Office has finished its alternate quarters process, it will present information to the community, she said.
The Lakeview Post Office, at 6550 Southwestern Blvd. in the Town of Hamburg, closed Jan. 7 after the Postal Service and landlord could not agree on a new lease.
